2021 Illinois Update
Hi Folks! Welcome to the 2021 Illinois Fireworks season!
You’d think that this year would be better than last year, and for the most part it is. But I’m still getting a pretty high number of cancellations for this summer, and also a bunch of (normally) yearly displays that aren’t announcing one way or another til the last minute. (Not sure how that’s going to work – most of the fireworks companies need plenty of notice to schedule, but maybe not this year). ?
So the bottom line is, there will probably be more cancellations and fewer displays than normal, but it’ll still probably be better than last year. Let’s hope, shall we? And also, if they all come in at once on, say, July 1st, I probably won’t be able to update 5000 displays (across eight web sites, don’t forget) in three days. I’m good but I’m not that good. No one person is that good.
So if you want to tell me I’ve gotten something wrong or left something out, please be gentle with me. Just this year. Next year you can tell me what you really think.
Some changes this year (this will probably be updated multiple times) include adding a donation link via Patreon. If you find the site useful, you can buy Hunter and myself a cup of coffee a month (we’ll split it – honest!) I would love nothing better than to keep the ads to an absolute minimum, and you all would probably like that too. But there are some expenses attached to all this (just ask my tax prep, ork ork). We’re working on some premium features we can offer to subscribers but that might have to wait til next year.
And I had to turn off the comments – just for now – the software I was using let far too many spam comments in, plus the authors required me to run ads AND pay them for the usage, and it was beyond my budget. Still on pandemic money.
So let’s have a good fireworks season, and hope for still better things as the year progresses.
